The Eames La Chaise - 1948
La Chaise is the most sculptural of all the chairs the Eameses designed. Its name is an acknowledgement of the Floating Sculpture (1927) by Gaston Lachaise

It is made out of fiberglass that is shaped in a single mould and rests on an unusual metal and wooden base: a tubular steel frame supported by 2 pieces of beech arranged in a cross. Even though La Chaise was included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (NY), it was never produced during the lifetime of the designers and was not manufactured commercially until 1990. This reproduction is totally correct in its dimensions and quality, please be aware of inferior and distorted copies!
Like the original, our La Chaise seat is made from fibreglass which is then given 3 coats of gloss acrylic paint.
Fibreglass is a very robust and malleable material which allows the designer to incorporate curves and twists. Our lacquered paint finish is of a very high standard and there is no 'thinning' on the curves or corners.
