Pietro Arosio (1946 - )

Pietro Arosio was born in Lissone (Milan), 1946. After graduating from the Monza Art Institute in 1965, he began his career as a designer specialising in the design and manufacture of institutional furniture. This experience proved crucial for Arosio's design philosophy in the years that followed.
In 1972 he set up his industrial designers practice. Particularly notable were his designs for kitchens at this time, for which he was awarded the Casaviva d'Oro in 1983 .
The fundamental traits of his work are the spare forms which are tied to the application of new technologies and materials. In addition, even the tiniest details are defined at the design stage to verify whether they can be mass-produced and this work is done in close collaboration with engineering departments. Some of his works have been displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Munich Die Sammlung modern art museum.
Arosio is still working as a designer and in 1992 he joined the well established Italian company Zanotta as one of their freelance designers.
